Even if you’re not a die-hard fan of director Quentin Tarantino, no reason not to still enjoy these sweet tribute posters. Sure, if you’re not a member of the Cult of Quentin some of the poster images might not make sense, but Toronto-based designer/art director Ibraheem Youssef’s minimalist-style tribute posters are still incredibly cool and wonderfully designed. The series consist of: Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill Vol.1 & 2, Death Proof and Inglourious Basterds.
These posters are sold in either 12 x 18 or 24 x 36 print sizes directly by the artist; check below for a gallery of Youssef’s limited edition series. [via cool material]

Font choice is the key to any and all tasteful design – it communicates instantly and can be the lasting impression. Of course, fancy font software packages can be expensive. As a result, we have decided to put together an offering of the web’s most popular and peer recommended free fonts. Browse the gallery and feel free to download what you want.
Originally German, the term Gesamtkunstwerk refers to a collaborative, constantly growing, universal work of art. It was first popularized by German composer Richard Wagner in his 1849 essay and was used as a subsume all of the arts. On a more recent note, Gesamtkunstwerk is Artemio’s choice for a title for his last month exhibition at the Yautepec Gallery in Mexico City. The artist showed off eighteen posters with snowflake-like shapes made of guns, grenades, rifles and machetes. More sinister than the original universal artwork idea, we’re pretty sure Artemio managed to stun the audience big time. [via designyoutrust]
The cover page for the July/August 2009 issue of fashion magazine L’officiel showcases the stunning paper designs of Alexandra Zaharova and Ilya Plotnikov from the Russian advertising agency Doberman. Perfect for a special occasion where you need to ‘wow’ the audience, both the delicate dresses and the amazing jewelry accessories that adore the beautiful silhouette are entirely crafted from paper. Kudos to both Alexandra and Ilya for their gorgeous idea of paper culture and for their ability to showcase fashion as art. We’re sold! [via Behance]
Mark Andrew Webber is a young graphic designer from Reading, England, whose art is rubber stamp illustrations, linocut prints, lino carved animation and the actual lino carving itself. Webber has started a stunning project in 2006, the “where in the world city map series”. Much like the Lea Ceramiche tiles for floors and walls, after London, New York and Amsterdam, his latest work is the Paris map. He found his inspiration in 2007 after visiting the city to study the French typography for his college dissertation paper. The linocut alone took him two months of daily work and the carving another four days, but the end result is nothing short of breathtaking. [via DesignYourTrust]
Brussels-based Damien and Pierre, the team behind PleaseLetMeDesign, are two young designers that have fun doing what they know best. Recently, the crew took on the daring task of creating a new font in the most exciting way possible– using a Toyota as their stylus. Damien and Pierre reached out to professional driver Stef van Campenhoudt to drive a Toyota iQ (and artist Zachary Lieberman as its’ payload) to track the car’s movement with its custom software. The result? The neat iQ Font. A very creative job that is earning plenty of appreciation in the design world, Damine and Pierre have created a typeface to behold. Kudos to PleaseLetMeDesign, we’ll keep you updated on their work.
The Art Director at 180 Amsterdam, Dario Nucci, is a talented designer from the Netherlands who has been in charge with the Adidas Predator Pulse print campaign. With European football stars like David Beckham, Zinedine Zidane, Raul or Michael Ballack photographed while shooting the ball in nearly impossible positions, the final result definitely matches the value and the character of such a partnership with Adidas. It’s a daring way of proving the performance and quality of these football boots, and an amazing way of putting it on paper. Kudos to Dario for his impressive work! [via Behance]
