How will you be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day this weekend? Do you wear green? Attend a parade? Decorate your home or office? Did you know that 34.7 million U.S. residents claim Irish ancestry, but nearly 122 million Americans celebrate St. Patrick’s Day? We thought it would be fun to take a look at this infographic created by Column Five and the History Channel that explores the history of this popular holiday with facts about parades, traditions and its religious roots.

Whether it’s cooking a traditional meal of corn beef, cabbage or Irish soda bread or watching the Chicago River run green – there are lots of way to make March 17th a day to commemorate the holiday.
