Tangerine Tango: Pantone’s 2012 Color of the Year
By Diana Cook
Tangerine Tango (Pantone 17-1463) unseats last year’s winner, Honeysuckle (Pantone 18-2120) to become Pantone’s color of the year for 2012. While Honeysuckle was said to exude “inspiration to face life’s everyday troubles with verve and vigor,” Tangerine Tango gives an “energy charge” to move forward.
Executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, Leatrice Eiseman explains more of the elements that make up Tangerine Tango.
“Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it. Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”
Wow! That’s a lot of personality packed into one color.

Great color, I'm glad to see it emphasized in fashion and design. I need the energy!
