Recreating the bible one LEGO at a time is the one of the more unique uses for everyone’s favorite plastic brick. The Brick Testament is a website featuring the largest, most comprehensive illustrated Bible in the world with over 4,500 illustrations that retell more than 400 stories from The Bible. Launched in 2001, the project is an ongoing one-man labor of love, constructed and photographed entirely by The Rev. Brendan Powell Smith. This month the fourth book inspired by the website has been released. The Brick Bible: A New Spin on the Old Testament features familiar biblical stories in graphic novel form.
Using parts from LEGO sets dating back to the 1960s up to the present day, Smith has combined thousands of different LEGO parts to recreate the epic characters and stories from the bible. Everything but the background sky is built out of LEGO brand building blocks.
With more than 1,500 photographs The Brick Bible: A New Spin on the Old Testament recounts classic tales of the Old Testament from Earth’s creation to the Books of Kings. Every story is accompanied by original verses from scripture – and photographs of intricately detailed models composed out of thousands of Lego bricks. The three previously published Brick Testament books: The Brick Testament: Stories from the Book of Genesis, The Brick Testament: The Ten Commandments and The Brick Testament: The Story of Christmas are also available on Amazon.com.
