30 Vintage Mad Magazine Movie Parody Covers
By Diana Cook
We are huge fans of Mad magazine, but then again who isn’t? The narrative artwork of a Mad cover is a creative showcase for lampooning just about everything. Politics to pop culture, nothing is safe from the satirical cross hairs of the Mad artists and writers.
From Jaw’d to GrossBusters, Mad magazine movie parodies have delighted juveniles minds of all ages for more than 50 years. We’ve selected thirty vintage covers skewering Hollywood. The images are from collector Doug Gilford’s fansite. For me, just looking at a few of these old covers brings back powerful memories of discovering that other people’s sense of humor was as twisted as my own. So how about you? Do any of these covers stoke nostalgic fires, and are any of your favorites missing?

When I see one of the contestants on American Idol he reminds me very much of Mad Magazine.

The cover featuring Fonzie was a memorable one for me. I didn't take it well. The disrespect. The mocking. It was all too much. It may have been my 1st Mad Magazine purchase. I needed to get to the bottom of the travesty that was The Crappy Days.
