Bob Peak transformed the approach to movie advertising with his flamboyant and graphically complex style. His work on cinematic classics like “My Fair Lady,” “Enter The Dragon,” “Superman,” “Star Trek – The Motion Picture” and “Apocalypse Now.” helped garner him the title “father of the modern Hollywood movie poster.”
While best known for film campaigns, Bob Peak‘s illustrations have covered a variety of subject matter, including the 1984 Olympics and TWA Travel campaigns. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is hosting a retrospective of Peak’s work from now until April 17th, 2011 – admission is free! If you can’t make it to Los Angeles, we’ve gathered 70 images from Peak’s amazing portfolio.
