Calling All Shutterbugs: Sony Photography ContestBy Diana Cook
Do you fancy yourself the next Ansel Adams or Herb Ritz? Like to photograph stuff? Like money? Accolades? Answer yes to any of these means you might be interested in the 2011 Sony World Photography Awards. With categories for both professional and amateur photographers, the Sony World Photography Awards is one of the world’s largest photographic events.
Presented by the World Photography Organization, the newly revamped “Open Competition” welcomes all ages and skill levels. Replacing the amateur competition, the Open has eleven categories and judging is based on a single image.
- After Dark
- Arts & Culture
- Nature & Wildlife
Each category winner will be showcased as part of the official 2011 Finalists exhibitions in London, be published in the 2011 winner’s book and be announced to the worldwide press as Sony World Photography Awards Category Winners in March, 2011. One grand prize winner will be selected from the category winners by the 2010 Honorary Judging Committee and be awarded The Sony World Photography Awards Amateur Photographer of the Year. The grand prize winner will also receive $5000 and be flown to London to attend the ceremony.
