Nerd and Artsy Types Unite: Build Your Own World

The “Build Your Own World” 01SJ Biennial takes over downtown San Jose for the third time on Sept. 16-19. Part art festival, part geek happening the Art & Tech Biennial focuses on creating a better world through the marriage of art and technology. The event features more than 100 nationally and internationally recognized contemporary artists, engineers, designers, data miners and architects from 21 countries, augmented by exhibits by numerous Bay Area museums, galleries, cultural centers and corporations.
With a variety of media including robotics, storytelling, interactive events, the festival will showcase the fusion of art and technology, with plenty of opportunities to let your geek flag fly. Some of the more interesting programs include, Survival Research Labs, producing “the most dangerous shows on earth”, Audio Ballerinas and Out of the Garage into the World.
There will also be live music, films and workshops, some of it free and some covered by festival admission.
