Calling all Artsy Types: Thirst for Design Competition
By Diana Cook
Vapur, creator of the “Anti-Bottle” — a foldable, flexible, reusable, eco-friendly water bottle – has partnered with Jovoto, Dwell Magazine and Opportunity Green to sponsor the Vapur Thirst For Design Competition. The contest challenges the creative community to develop designs that will make carrying tap water more hip, and encourage people to eschew plastic water bottles. Designs selected will appear on a stylish new “Artist Series” of Anti-Bottles, making tap water fashionable and eco-sensitive.
Founders Jason Carignan, David Czerwinski, and Brent Reinke believe that clean tap water is the best drinking water for you, your community and the planet. It takes 17 million barrels of oil each year to make water bottles for the U.S. market. That would be enough oil to fuel 1.3 million cars for a year. 37,800 18-wheelers deliver bottled water around the country every week. Only 23% of water bottles are recycled – a whopping 38 billion are land filled each year.
Think you’d like to participate? Go to the competition page for more information and to submit your designs. I am looking forward to drinking from an Anti-Bottle created by a Design Crave reader – so let’s get to it.
