Fishbowl Dining: Bejing Noodle No. 9

One of the things I love about Las Vegas is the “Fantasy Island-like” aspect of almost everything.  It’s as if you’ve been greeted by Ricardo Montalbán and your fantasy of experiencing life, from Russian Czar (Red Square, Mandalay Bay) to streetwise Clown (Circus, Circus) – is about to come true, at least for a few hours.

If you’ve ever wanted to get a taste of what life might be like in a fishbowl, Caesars Palace has a restaurant for you. While Beijing Noodle No.9 serves the kind of fare you’d expect to find in any standard noodle shop, the creative minds at Design Spirits have introduced  a modern space that is anything but standard.

Beijing Noodle No. 9 uses the design idea of layering the patron in a series of fish tanks to create a surreal, luminous environment. The cut metal screen ceiling is back lit with LEDs on surface mounted tracks, carefully located between the openings. All light fixtures are concealed from direct view.  The low profile LEDs create a floating effect for the screen and emphasize the painted pattern on the wall. All of these design elements work together to give you the “swimming with the fishes” experience.
