The Corvo Chair By Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance
By Jeffrey Hyatt
We’re back to chairs. Mainly because I really like the looks of this Corvo model from French designer Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance. Similar to the unfolding plot of a classic novel, Duchaufour-Lawrance embraced this mindset when creating his new wood chair for Bernhardt Design.
Creating visual interest and stability, the contours of the inner arms and back are juxtaposed with the straight edges of the external structure. Corvo is hand-carved, shaped and sanded, reflecting the personality of the ar tisan. Availablein solid walnut or maple with a variety of wood and lacquer finishes. Duchaufour-Lawrance notes, “The appearance of an armchair can be interpreted in many ways. It is often the back that is discovered first, followed by the inner envelope. I designed Corvo with both views in mind.” [via contemporist]
