Viet Hoa Cafe By Vonsung
By Jeffrey HyattThe London-based studio Vonsung recently wrapped up the interior design of the Viet Ho Cafe in Shoreditch, London. The floors, walls and ceilings of the Vietnamese cafe are beautiful; solid, thick European oak plankss. The design certainly adheres to a less is more sensibility; a space that aspires to blend Vietnam’s organic and colorful culture.
The floors and walls are made of 4 meter long pieces that stop one-inch short of the purpose-built acoustic ceilings to create lateral openings across the top of the west side of the restaurant made of lacquered black wood strips. The gap is to show how the restaurant breathes – the heating and air conditioning are channeled through the strips, which makes the restaurant feel longer, higher. The char-grilled tiger Prawns look fantastic! [via dezeen]
