Q House Designed For Site, Reflects Changing Light
By Joe Wertz
Conceived as a complete contrast to domesticated Spanish suburbia, the Q House shrugs off the compact nature of surrounding villas and two-dimensional gardens and pays tribute to the topography of the landscape. Architect J.M. Aguirre Alzaz and designers at arsenio_mah used geometric lines for the house and laid out a site plan with terraces to give structure to experimental indoor and outdoor spaces. The home is divided among three units around a central core, which guides the length of the home through a gradual vertical slope. The exterior of the house is clad in high-tech prefabricated composite panels with different surface consistencies designed by a computer to reflect the property’s changing light conditions.
