Arranged within a dense thicket of pines and hollies on a Fire Island plot with a bay view, the 1,400-square-foot “Tree House” is woodsy and warmly welcoming. Designed by Sag Harbor-based Bates + Masi Architects, the two-level New York home is clad in roughhewn cyprus, floored with bleached oak and reveals a ceiling structure of exposed fir. A raised walkway brings visitors to a glass entrance on the first floor, which hosts a pair of guest bedrooms, and a steel staircase ascends to the second story and the home’s living, dining, kitchen and master bedroom.
