CARRIER Robotic Wheelchair 1

Students at the University of Applied Arts at the Studio Industrial Design 2 Esslinger in Austria have created CARRIER — an advanced wheelchair for handicapped and temporary disabled people. This robotic wheelchair concept tackles the difficulty for handicapped people to use the toilet, to go over stairs or to ascend inclines. More to it, it actually makes their whole day a lot more comfortable. Specially designed to maneuver over the bed for easier transfers, the CARRIER also features a “Gallileo Wheel” and a track to drive over obstacles. Kudos to Julia Kaisinger, Mayrhofer Mathias, Iranmanesh Niki, Demiric Bilge and Benesch Xiulian for their concept, we’d like to see this one mass produced. [via Yanko]
