Architects Höweler + Yoon and the creative crew from Squared Design Lab have developed an interesting proposal for the stalled Filene development in downtown Boston. The structure, which was abandoned in November 2008, is now supposed to be covered with removable “Eco Pods” that are supposed to be filled with biofuel producing algae. More to it, the building would feature a set of giant robotic arms that not only add to the cool factor but are also used to move the prefab pods ensuring favorable growth. Funny how the crisis brings interesting new solutions, isn’t it?  We’re betting this thing never sees the light of day. [via TheDesignBlog]
