Hiroshima Café/House Swings With Playground Design
By Joe Wertz
Set atop a slope in the urban jungle of Hiroshima, the Bishamon House is suspended from a frame style typically reserved for playground swing sets. Designed by Japan’s Suppose Design Office, the framework is sturdy and eliminates the need to clear and conceal the land that lives beneath the building, which serves as both a home and a café. The bottom floor hosts diners who sit in the minimal space and enjoy a sweeping view of the city from a large glass wall or outdoors on a terrace. The café owners live on the second story, which has a similar terrace space and the added privacy of a non-transparent street-side wall. [via designboom]
