L.A.’s AIA Fall Home Tour Climbs Tree House

One of four California homes chosen for the 2009 AIA Los Angeles Fall Home Tour of  “tree section” of Manhattan Beach, the prefabricated Tree House uses sustainable materials and combines textures for a warm, modern aesthetic. Designed by architect Grant Kirkpatrick of the KAA Design Group, the home was created with a mix of glass, concrete and wood, elements that were left open and exposed with natural, unembellished finishes. Kirkpatrick also worked to hide heating and cooling elements to streamline the interior and make way for natural ventilation. [via contemporist]
