Gaia Phone Concept Knows Friends from Acquaintances
By Jared Newman
Today’s smartphones purport to keep you connected with friends and family, but the Gaia Phone Concept makes them seem like cold, uncaring machines. Displaying contacts as scrolling wall of pictures, the Gaia Phone measures the frequency of your calls, text messages and social networking correspondence to that person to determine how important they are to you. Accordingly, photos become darker for distant acquaintances, while close friends and family appear more brightly. When an individual calls or sends a message, the phone’s reaction depends on the strength of your relationship, spouting off colorful lights and sounds for your closest contacts. But, food for thought: What if your most frequent caller is a destructive significant other? Alas, all machines have their limitations. [via Yanko Design]
