A hillside home built on a site limited by a steep slope and nearby woods, the Z-house was built to help its owners move and circulate with well-planned spaces that put purpose first. The reinforced concrete home, designed by Hohyun Park + Hyunjoo Kim, is clad in black zinc, basalt slate and red cedar and was completed this year in Gwangju, South Korea. The interior leads the eye through different elevations marked initially by a high-ceilinged entrance to an overhead ramp that converges the space, tightening the lines. The lowest level houses a library, while the upper story hosts bedroom spaces split between a master suite and a kids’ room, both accessible by a corridor. [via archdaily]
