An ominous geometry with an airy interior, this compact three-level home in Vila Nova Gaia, Portugal uses edgy architecture to bring relief from reality. A team at Arquitectos Anónimos used dark plywood for the facade, which contrasts boldly with nearly sterile white indoor spaces. The home is compartmentalized and organized around a central “communication corridor.” The home’s spacious roof terrace was planned and arranged in relation to neighboring houses and structures to provide an ocean view.
