Artemio’s Gesamtkunstwerk Snowflakes

Artemio Gesamtkunstwerk poster 2

Originally German, the term Gesamtkunstwerk refers to a collaborative, constantly growing, universal work of art. It was first popularized by German composer Richard Wagner in his 1849 essay and was used as a subsume all of the arts. On a more recent note, Gesamtkunstwerk is Artemio’s choice for a title for his last month exhibition at the Yautepec Gallery in Mexico City. The artist showed off eighteen posters with snowflake-like shapes made of guns, grenades, rifles and machetes. More sinister than the original universal artwork idea, we’re pretty sure Artemio managed to stun the audience big time. [via designyoutrust]
