Built with space for roots to spread and sky-high ceilings, the Camouflage House is as eco-friendly as construction comes and literally welcomes trees indoors as permanent house guests. Designed by Hiroshi Iguch, a member of the Fifth World architecture sustainability project, the innovative home is inspired by Japanese minimalism and serves to honor nature by living directly with it. A greenhouse-styled glass roof with a grid pattern caps the two-level home, echoing the design of traditional sliding paper screens used throughout the interior. Continuing the nod to nature, a recessed rock garden that dips below the low angle of the glass roof provides seating and a dining and illuminated gathering area. [via inhabitat]
