Melbourne Convention Centre Gets Awarded a 6 Star Green Star Rating

Other than having some of the most amazing beaches and houses on the planet, Australia can now brag about a new innovative environmental design for the Melbourne Convention Centre. Recently awarded a 6 Star Green Star rating, the building has managed to set a new standard in environmentally friendly design by becoming the world’s greenest convention center. Devised by NH Architecture and Woods Bagot, the Melbourne Convention Centre uses hilled floor slabs and displacement ventilation to reduce air-conditioning needs, adds a gray-water treatment plant that recycles waste water for use in toilets, cooling towers and landscape irrigation and solar thermal panels for hot water.
