Suspended Wooden Cedar Chest: A Savvy Home Accent

Suspended Cedar Chest

So often when we think of the wooden chest it’s as a vessel to hide something that is no longer needed. Outdated clothing or unsavory magazines are stowed away and the wooden chest is hidden in a dark corner of the attic never to be heard from again. Designer Jeffrey Barrett has pulled the wooden chest out of its comfort zone and put it on display for the world to see. The Suspended Cedar Chest features a world map on a recycled acrylic backdrop. The chest’s owners can use steel pins to designate all the places in the world that they’ve traveled to, or perhaps where they hope to venture in the future. The sustainable bamboo and cedar chest suspended below is used to store timeless keepsakes collected from said travels. The design takes the cedar chest where it has rarely been before: front and center in a home den or living room inspiring intrigue and conversation. [via Yanko]
