Concept Wheel Chairs by Jake Eadie
By Chris Weiss
It may be slightly crass to say, but handicapped folks get all the cool toys. Yes, they’ve certainly earned it and not many non-handicapped folks would trade places, but one can’t deny that certain accessories like motorized wheelchairs and bionic limbs are rather intriguing. These sweet concept wheelchairs, designed by Jake Eadie of Australia, are the latest device to make us green with envy. The chairs adjust from a standard sitting position to standing position all while the user remains seated and sustains mobility–sorta a Segway/wheelchair hybrid. The device would be invaluable in allowing wheelchair-bound individuals to perform simple activities like using the bathroom on their own (for men at least). It appears the wheelchairs use hydraulics and independently-suspended wheels to provide a cush ride. One final bonus, the rear wheel looks a lot like a Dyson ball–that SOB is solving problems all over the place. [via Coroflot]
