As the preeminent prefab producer, architect Charlie Lazor has enjoyed much buzz for his FlatPak Homes, a modular design system that gives owners a wide choice of structural and design components to assemble the perfect space for a particular site. FlatPak’s latest build, in Sausalito, Calif., is a five-bedroom, 4,200 square-foot giant with sweeping views of the San Francisco Bay. The $3.65 million home is for sale by the Dupont Group and comes with 11-foot ceilings, polished concrete and mahogany floors, custom birch cabinetry and a soaking tub designed by Philippe Starck. Located on a 2/3-acre lot off a private drive, the home as 2,300 square-feet of outdoor decks and has been featured on the cover of Dwell and in pieces published by The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal.
