Black Magic: Suppose Design’s Otake House
By Joe Wertz
A black and white concept that stands as a contemporary contrast to the nearby industrial bustle of Otake, this residence reaches for the mountains and the Seto Inland Sea, taking in the Japanese scenery with large windows and wide architectural “apertures.” Blurring the line between landscape and residence, Suppose Design Office created a large terrace covered by an 18-foot eave with no distracting support columns. The home’s exterior is clad in a shiny, black, waterproof material originally engineered for ships, which is smooth and doesn’t require tiling or weather sealants. [via contemporist]
