Expo-sition: Preview Of Cairo’s New Conference Center

Welcome to Expo City, Cairo’s architectural bid on the lucrative world of conferences and exhibitions. The proposed 1.5 million square-foot complex, which includes a shopping center and twin office towers, breaks ground in October, a design by Zaha Hadid Architects and engineering consultants at Buro Happold. The undulating relief of the expo space will be carved into smaller clusters of buildings, each having a specific use and aesthetic. A north-south corridor will link the individual spaces and funnel foot-traffic through walkway arteries to relieve congestion during big events. [via archdaily]
