Minotti Chair By Moscow Designer Denis Chigidin
By Joe Wertz
The Minotti is more than a chair. It’s a contemporary cradle. Made by Russian furniture designer Denis Chigidin, this sumptuous seat and backrest is supported by shiny steel tubing, a backbone that supports a hand-formed metal mesh framework. The exposed metal skeleton hugs a deep, caramel-colored cushion and embedded armrests, which are both clad in a buttery textile that flows from a wide, spout-like seat-front that looks eager to lap asses like a warm leather tongue.
