A River Runs Through It: Award-winning Hind House
By Joe Wertz
On the banks, the Hind House is an architectural marvel. Mid-stream, however, the Wargrave home is even more spectacular. Designed by John Pardey Architects and completed in December, the home is raised by columns which accommodate the flooding Loddon River and clad with cedar and zinc and a timber-lined roof. The home was designed around three volumes; guest, living and bedroom spaces, which are located in the home’s wings. A staircase leads to a balcony, central hall and outdoor “day room” with a large deck. The home was recently honored with a 2009 RIBA Award. [via contemporist]
