The beauty of mankind’s mark can’t truly be appreciated from a human’s perspective. To see it all, acclaimed aerial photographer Jason Hawkes rises above, and he recently shared 26 of his favorite shots with’s Big Picture photo blog. Through the lens of the London-based photographer’s Nikon D3, humans are tiny, yet significant. Occasionally dotting the frame, grain-like men, women and kids work and play and among the beautiful, repeating patterns their lives leave on the planet. Hawkes snapped these photos from a helicopter high above scenes unnoticeable from street-level views throughout France, Las Vegas, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. [via porhomme]
