Olafur Eliasson Builds Star Light Brick-by-brick
By Joe Wertz
The Starbrick is a modular lighting system that easily expands from functional illumination to full-blown ceiling art installation. Danish designer Olafur Eliasson’s bright idea is a cube — actually a cuboctahedron — with six surfaces, each of which host six connector cubes with 45-degree angles. These connector cubes serve to join the Starbrick lights to one another, creating kaleidoscopic groups and clusters of angular lighting in myriad sizes and configurations. The Starbrick is made from injection-molded polycarbonate and warmly glows thanks to dimmable internal LEDs. [via designbloom]
