3HLD’s Bandaged Medical Center in Split, Croatia

3HLD Architects went literal when looking for inspiration for the new medical center in Split, Crotia. The unique building is an endless series of horizontal bands inspired by Ivo Radic’s brise-soleil, one of the most notable architectural elements of the city’s local architecture. The bandaged design not only offers protection from the sun and natural ventilation when needed, but also offers relaxing views of the beach and the sea. With public areas on the lower floors and the clinic above, this medical center does its job to heal the Croatian skyline as well as its inhabitants. [via Inhabitat]
