Earthy Elements Bring Israeli Landscape To Indoor Eaters

Tourists have long flocked to the quiet, green and red fields of Northern Israel, a geography known for its rolling hills and serene oak trees. To bring the Ramat Ishay landscape inside the Rosso Restaurant while expanding the eatery’s layout, a design team at SO Architecture built upon its original concept by covering the walls with textured upholstery and contouring the ceiling with a topography of wood-covered steel slats that heave with the earthy curves of the exterior setting. Lighting is nestled between each of the 36 contours, which is diffused casts mysterious shadows on diners below. [via archdaily]
